Karthik's Digital Experiments

Web-based public and private Products I designed and developed myself, each built around a specific purpose and from my system. Gemini organizes my ideas, Claude and ChatGPT help draft code to my specs, and I rework, test, and ship every one. These serve as a sneak peek into how I function as researcher, designer, developer, and product manager in one.

How I work

Each tool in my workflow has one job. I decide what gets built, how it works, and whether it meets the requirements.

01 Gather Gemini organizes my ideas into lists, extracts text from images and references, and explains layouts I screenshot.
02 Draft Claude writes code for what I specify, and helps with copy.
03 Build I rework the draft, build locally, and test it.
04 Ship Repos live on GitHub and go out through GitHub Pages.
05 Maintain ChatGPT, connected to GitHub, handles minor changes. Anything new I build locally and push myself.

JAKpot Design System

The Design system behind all my personal websites and products, built with Storybook using React, Vite, and TypeScript.

I defined the visual identity, design tokens, typography scale, spacing rules, component hierarchy, variants, and layout behaviour, then specified each component’s structure, properties, responsive behaviour, and styling.

I learned React and TypeScript with ChatGPT’s help and used it as a coding and debugging partner, translating my decisions into components, CSS, and Storybook documentation.

I reviewed the code and rendered output against my designs, identified defects, and directed the fixes at the component, CSS, and rendering levels. I tested the system against real portfolio case studies, so actual page requirements exposed gaps in component behaviour.

The Graphic Design Index

A web app for exploring my graphic design work across client campaigns, movies, and brands. The idea came from something I saw online, and the content and functionality are mine. I specified what the app needed to do, Claude wrote the code to my specs, and I reworked it to fit my needs. It’s deployed on Vercel v0.

This Portfolio

I designed and developed this site myself to show my UX and product work. Inconsistencies across its pages led me to build the design system. I then redid major parts of the site with the HTML Builder, so those pages connect to Storybook and stylesheet changes go live across them. A local CSS file handles minor or element-specific changes.

JAKpot Builder

A composition and configuration layer for building landing pages from the Storybook components, with HTML and CSS linked to the design system’s stylesheet. I specified how the builder reads from the existing component library without duplicating component definitions, and directed the React and TypeScript implementation, with ChatGPT handling code and debugging.
